Body Composition

Your body is composed of water, dry lean mass (protein and mineral) and fat. Total body water is divided into water inside the cells (Intracellular water) and water outside the cells (Extracellular water). When you are healthy, your body maintains a balanced ratio between the intracellular water (ICW) and Extracellular water (ECW). Keeping these components in appropriate balance is the key to staying fit and healthy. Compositional imbalance in the body is closely related to obesity, malnutrition, edema and osteoporosis.

 

Body Composition Analysis

Abnormalities in the body due to compositional imbalance is easily detected by body composition analysis. For early detection and prevention of more serious medical conditions. It is necessary to check your body composition on a regular basis. When managing your weight, you need to check both your fat and muscle mass. A truly healthy diet is achieved when there is only fat loss and the sufficient amount of lean body mass is maintained.

 

Weight Control

InBody 320's target weight is personalized information based on the complete evaluation of current body composition. It gives you an idea how to manage your weight and achieve the ideal body composition by suggesting the amount of Lean Body Mass and Fat Mass you need to gain or lose.

 

 

 

 

Be prepared for an accurate analysis

 

The following steps will insure an accurate analysis:

1. measure with an empty stomach

2. measure 2 hours after a meal

3. measure after urination and excretion

4. to get net weight, remove heavy clothes and accessories (belt, jacket, etc)

5. do not exercise or take a shower before measurement

6. measure after standing for at least 5 minutes

7. do not measure after abruptly standing

8. do not measure awhile taking a diuretic

9. for females, avoid measurement during menstrual period

10. Input accurate height (EXACT height is imperative)

11. Warm up for at least 20 minutes before measuring in the winter.

 

A person can get an analysis every 2 or four weeks to track results when taking treatment related to body composition such as exercise, prescription, hormone prescription or treatment for obesity and rehabilitation.

 

*You may NOT get an analysis if you have a Pace Maker or any other electrical implants such as an artificial heart/lung.
