Longevity Goes Wireless

Check your email, surf the net, meet a colleague or do your school work...before or after your workout!

In this day and age, the fitness industry has to take extra steps to help make exercise fun and convenient. Good equipment and great service is no longer an attraction, it’s expected. What seems to keep people coming back are all the extras; the personality of the club, the relationships, convenient services like free childcare, fun perks, variety and flexible hours. Recognizing this, the fitness industry has really encouraged health clubs to get creative.

More and more clubs, like Longevity, are taking notice and working hard to think outside the dreary gymnasium box in order to make exercise attractive and practical. For example, Longevity now offers a Cyber Internet Café (wireless internet service). Ladies that used to have to go back to the office after their workout can now check their e-mail at the club, saving valuable time. Members can hold a meeting in the café and still make it to their favorite aerobics class. Students can study in between school and work while mothers soak up uninterrupted time online while their children are in childcare. The Cyber Café is just one example of the services becoming available that help squeezing in a workout feasible in today’s hectic world.

The average health club member is no longer the person in matching leotards punching the “it’s cool to be a member” clock. Today’s member is just like you and me. Members are busy even if they are retired and they go to the club to get results, not to waste their time. Of course we still have the members that hang out after their workout, drink coffee in the café and visit with their friends, but even their time is limited.

Extra services, like Longevity’s Cyber Café, or other popular services offered by area clubs, are not necessarily a necessity, but they sure can make a difference. When it comes to working out, most people will take every little bit of help that they can get in order to make their membership a success. Health clubs are open more hours and offering more services than ever. Between the 30-minute workout trend and the Cyber Café, health clubs like Longevity are not only giving you a good excuse to join, but they are taking away the excuses not to.
